ORA Red Palnet losing green

I've had this thing for 3 months now and the green has really faded, anyone else have this problem, and what can I do to fix it? I have it at the top of a 6x54 in a 75 gal. Everything else in my tank if doing great.
Thanks

Mine has faded too but it continues to rapidly grow. The red is still nice and it has excellent PE. I have had it in a little lower flow but tonight I readjusted the powerhead on that side of the tank to give it a bit more flow to see if this helps. Ill let you know what I see.

My red is good too and it's in a high flow area and growth is great. I'm wondering if it's too high up.

i have heard that they tend to lose green under too much light. it tends to keep the green in slightly lower light.

I have heard that this is what is supposed to happen as the coral starts tabling and maturing.
I just got a mini one 2 weeks ago so it is still really red and green. I will be able to more accurately tell in a few months from now.

if that's the case then it sucks! i was really looking forward to getting one and was hoping that is its actual color!

Ya, it would be nice....maybe christmas tree coral suits it better. A nice red tabling acro isn't bad at the same time either. Have any of you guys that have lost your green maintained a nice bright red?

Mine has lost all of its green too. Even the red is not all that great anymore, but the PE is good. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew this was going to happen.
Has anybody ever lost the green and then found a way to get it back?

Mine lost it's green after a few weeks in my tank, but now it seems to be coming back. I got mine just before christmas time. It is growing pretty well also. I have it towards the bottom under 2x250w 14k Pheonix MH, and it is getting pretty good random flow and shows really good PE, almost like a mille.

I've lost the green only in the portions that are rapidly growing... The base has kept its green hue... Likely as it matures the green will return... At least I hope... :D

mine has lost a lot of green also. like ct_vol pointed out, the rapidly growing areas seem to be a bright pink/red where as the base and the areas more shaded from the light have more green. i am guessing that once it starts tabling and shading the base more it will have a green base with bright pink/red branches.

Nice....Where do you keep that Rommels?

Crash=thanks-that coral sits low in my 32" tall tank under 400w 12k reeflux-

I recently cut my photo period by 2 hours. I am hoping some of the green shade will return to the Red Planet.

Good question Felipe- the R.Watermelon has been on the scene for a year and a half or more before the RP was introduced so kudos to Rommel- specific differences, I do not have the RP to compare so I do not know-anyone have both?

anyone have both?

Soon my friend... Very soon... ;)

They both seem to be tabling Acros, but from KEEPERZ photo, the RP seems to grow more vertical than the Watermelon Acro... At least my RP is growing more vertical than his WA... Really I'm not sure that a distinction can be made at this point since the RP has only been out for 6 months or so and no one has a colony pic...

I compare it to trying to tell the difference between a Millepora and Prostrata frag... Its very difficult to distinguish between the two until they grow out...

I keep my RP almost 3' under the lights and it still is keeping its green (its just a frag right now, had it for a month) but where its encrusting it has the brightest green colors. just from my experience it seems like the green does better in a little less light
