Down at my lfs there is a large orange sponge for sale maybe 200mm long by 70-100mm thick. It has a very open structure with nearly a honeycomb look but the structure is really random. It looks like one single piece with holes throughout its body. The mass/area of sponge to holes is nearly equal with maybe more open areas than actual sponge.
I was wondering if it is a non photo organism as I've read that the orange colour could indicate that it is.
Any help would be appreciated, I've been googling away and can't find any info or pics which resemble this particular sponge.
I've been looking for sponges for my cryptic area for ages and I'm hoping that its a np sponge but I don't want to buy it if its a photosynthetic species.
