orangespotted filefish arrives

hello again everyone. the orangespotted filefish arrived friday & seems in pretty good shape. it want eat (soaked) pellet, mysis, or brine shrimp. the only thing it goes for is NUTRAMAR OVA. blue zoo said there OSFF were weaned on live brine shrimp & was hoping it would eat frozen brine, but so far that hasn't happened. I ordered a coral with this fish because they strongly suggest it, but they didn't send it by mistake.... a mistake that ****es me off! anyhow, I also ordered a yellow tale blenny....a very beautiful fish, different than the bicolor I had before being suck into hydor koralia powerhead. the blenny want eat nothing but the prawn eggs either!!! I'm feeding every 3 hours. when I return to work (I've been sick over the weekend & will probably be off a couple more days), the feedings will be more like 4 times a day. will this be enough for the filefish to survive? can this fish live on just prawn eggs for now? thanks

I am by no means an expert, but Nutramar Ova has been the staple of my filefish since they arrived a week ago. They seem to test other foods but they get fat eating the ova. I do have some sps they pick at, but in the end the ova is their main course and they are doing well. So I think yours should be okay for a week if not longer.

Try ocean nutrition prime reef flakes. Mine are gaga for it. A nice easy food to get them on. Greg and Renee's eat it too. Good luck.

My goes for the 'tiny' and the '1mm' NLS pellets - it was eating that at the LFS when I bought it. I'm going to try the Nutramar when I get the chance to buy it to try and fatten mines up too. They are cool fishes that don't even blink an eye or get scared from fishes 10x their size and girth.

I know what you mean. I've had my net in the water a few times & this guy doesn't even move. don't really know at this point if this fish will end up in my display tank(300). right now it's in my 60 gl. refuge. I might just leave him where he's at. might get a pipefish to go in there with it oneday.
