Another sign of spring around these parts is the Orchid Show at Phipps. About a third through the bics, but I need a break. Hope you enjoy.

Those are a lot of beautiful shots. I'm guessing those were photoshopped onto black or do these flowers stay open at night for some sweet nighttime flash photography?

Black curtains with nasty incandesent flood lamps for lighting. PS was just used to clean up crap on the curtains. Amd the flowers do stay opened.

Nice shots. Here's one of some orchids I have that I took about a year ago with my Sony P&S. Always liked this because it makes the flower look like there's a creature of some kind attached to it. I'm hoping for a third round of blooms this year so I can try to shoot it with my DSLR.

A picture I took in Monteverde Costa Rica in an orchid garden. Monteverde holds 500 different types of orchids.
