Oscillaris Clowns without a Host

I picked up a couple clowns at the meeting and they have yet to find a home. I have heard all kinds of stories about clowns hosting in just about everything from a zoa matt to colt coral. I have a torch coral that is a decent size that I was hoping they would find a good home.

Am I going to have to purchase an anenome?? And even in doing that is there still a chance they won't take to it?

I've had ours for almost 6 months, not hosting in anything, they sort of hang out around the pump for my skimmer, that's about it. I even had an anemone for them, they were not at ALL interested in it.

I only have one and it loves to roll around int he zoas. As soon as they open its swimming over to roll around again. They never stay open.

The clowns will find something, don't stress it. We've had two different sets of clowns and had 3 different anemones in our tank at once with the one pair and they could have cared less about them. Our clarki clowns don't really host in much during the day, but as soon as the lights go out, they get all nuzzled down in the elegance coral, the brain, every now and then the frogspawn. More or less, whatever they're digging on at the moment.

when lights go out my clown fish and my yellow fang blenny all snuggle together in a corner of the tank they dont host anything.

Yea, I've had 2 clowns for 4 months now and the only thing they host is my mag cleaner:) even when I move it, they just move with it. go figure!

they may not host for a long time. It took about 6 months or more before my marroon found her anem. she just hung out wherever she pleased. they dont need a host to survive and be healthy.

Definitely don't worry about it, man. My clowns just recently started hosting my hairy mushroom and I've had one of them for a year and a half and the other one has been with her for about a year now. And they don't host together, so I don't think they're going to pair.

But anyway, what I'm trying to say is don't worry about it, mine took a year!

Out of everything in the tank my clowns seem to like my glass magnets the best. They will even chase it when I clean.
