Osmo Issue

Roger, I am having a problem with my osmolator. I had it on my main display (75g+150g sump), and it worked great. I just disconnected it and moved it to my smaller system (biocube 29g) and now it doesn't work. It does try to pump water, but no water gets pumped. Eventually the water low light starts flashing.

I should also mention that the first time I had hooked it up, the water high and water low LEDs were flashing at the same time. I am not sure what the problem is - any help? Thanks!

You may have some air under the pump. When the pump starts, try turning it on its side under water to release any air pockets and to get the water stated. Once the pump gets primed, you can return it to its normal position.

The good news is that I inverted the pump, and it worked. Last night. Today I get home from work to the alarm going off. The water hi and water low lights were flashing red as well. What should I do now?

Are you running any of the osmolator cables next to an electronic ballast? I had the same issue. Things worked great until I installed the e-ballast then I would get the too low light alarm and the pump on light. Moved some cords around and that fixed the issue.

Hmm, yes, there are e-ballasts for my PC lights in the same cabinet. I will check and see if any of the Osmo cables run next to them. Thx.

Ok, so update: the stupid osmo still alarms everyday. I would say like clockwork, but I am not sure of the timing (since it seems to happen when I am not around/awake).

The "too high" light is constant red, the "too low" light is flashing and the alarm is going off. I moved all the wires and osmo unit away from the PC ballasts, so unless the effect can happen ~15" away, that's not it. Any other things I should do to try to get this working properly? Should I open it up and check for moisture?

I did notice that mine would alarm after the first on period (of the Osmo) when the lights came on initially and only when they came on. Just info for you.

Thanks - did you then reset it, or unplug/replug back in? I am having to unplug and replug back in, and it is annoying!

Yeah, I had to reset/unplug it to clear the alarm. That's when it would work fine until the lights came on. It would also alarm when the lights were on and the pump was triggered now that I think about it some more.

hmm. Not an easy issue to diagnose. I can keep the PC ballasts away from the Tunze unit and wires, but I can't keep the PC's wires away from them. They are in close proximity, so I hope that is not it.
