osmolator controller problem solved

Installed an osmolator on my tank several weeks ago - was really pleased with the operation but continued to get frequent failure alarms - steady low level light and high level light flashing - this would shut down the controller and allow the water level in the tank to fall low - had to disconnect the power to reset the unit - this would happen about once every 24-36 hours. I sent the unit back to Roger at Tunze (it checked out OK) and began changing one variable at a time to try to solve the problem through a process of elimination. Long story short, I found that the problem was interfierence from a Mag 5 pump which was about 6" away from the osmolator controller. Roger may dispute this (or not) but relocating the unit was the ONLY variable that prevented the problem.

Dan

I have yet to see this happen from pumps but I know ballasts will do this so it doesn't surprise me (workhorse ballasts in particular seem to cause trouble). This is good to know. If you want to go back to the correct wire from the extension I installed please let me know.

Nah, it has been working just fine for a few weeks now, and the long wire is not hurting anything so I'm not going to mess with it!
