osmolator green but not maintaining water level

Hi there,

I have a Tunze Osmolator that has worked flawlessly. However, over the last week it has not been able to turn on the pump, though the water level indicator remains green. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot or fix it? Im not sure if the fault is with the optical eye or the processor itself. I'm away for days at a time due to work and would like to sort this out as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Sunil

The sensor could just be dirty... remove it from the holder and gently clean it with a mild soap and clean water. Use a microfiber or pure cotton towel, or a lens cloth, not a paper towel (they can scratch plastics)

good luck, and I'm sure Roger will be in here soon with any other good advice he knows of.

How old is it? If the sensor is clean, the most likely issue will be a bad optic sensor if only the green light shows, green and yellow together would be another issue

The old sensor needs to be unsoldered and the new one soldered in. If it is from March 2011 forward, I can probably repair it, it would likely be just the optic sensor, if it is older than that, it may be another issue and I won't be able to repair it and I would discount a replacement.

It is best if I can get the pump and power supply but usually this issue will only be the controller. I do like to check everything electrical though when possible.

Sunil,

Can you call me or PM me your number? I got the controller and I think the only issue was a very corroded and poor pump connection, one wire was black from corrosion. Once I replaced the connector and cleaned up the wiring it seems to work normally.
