Osmolator optical sensor failure

Hi there,

I believe my optical sensor is failing. I've had this unit for several years without any issues until recently. I cleaned the two sensors yesterday (optical, float), but the behavior remains: it detects when the water level has dropped and refills, but a little while later, it fills again (unnecessarily) and only stops when the float switch is engaged. Anything else I can do?

I've read through the posts where people sometimes send their units in to have the sensor replaced.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a rough idea of age? If it is more than 8 years old it can be difficult or not worthwhile to repair as it can be a circuit board issue and it is an older circuit board. We do replace optic sensors, it is a $28.80 part, only other charge is shipping.

I think it might be that old.

Since the pump still works, should I look to obtain the Osmolator Controller 5017 which is less expensive or get a whole new 3155?

Is the face of the controller black with blue lettering or blue with white lettering? Blue and white I can probably fix. In general the price difference between the whole Osmolator and just the 5017 is not big enough to me to justify only buying the 5017 unless the unit is only a couple years old and it is a water damage issue. Otherwise it is best to replace it all as the pump and other parts may fail soon and the total will be higher. Let me know, we do discount replacements for existing customers when we cannot repair a product.
