osmolator + power up <> pump start = problem?

hi all,

I just installed a new osmolator 3155 and noticed that on power-up the pump does not startup for a few seconds.

As roger has indicated previously ...

Yes, when power is first connected it does a sort of self diagnostic as the board energizes. It should run the pump for just a few second

... and my existing osmolator (about 3 years old) does startup the pump for a few seconds on powe-up.

I like the self-diagnostic behaviour since I like to know that it is pumping whater when I change my top-off water.

Any ideas as to what the problem can be?

thanks

sorry ... forgot to mention ...

Other than the power-on / pump-start issue ... the osmolator appears to be working properly (e.g., if the water level is too low, the pump will be activated and will pump out the water).

thanks.

The osmolator had several changes this year to improve reliability, this was one of the changes. A lot of the components were beefed up, you will notice that the optic sensor has a thicker cable among other changes.

hi roger,

Glad to know the new osmolator behaviour is normal.

I miss the the "old" behaviour, though ... I think it was better because it gave me a chance to "shake" out the air in the pump whenever I stopped/restarted my osmolator during my "refill the topoff container" process (now I'll have to raise the optical sensor or temporarily remove water from my tank ... unless you have some handy tip :)).

Just curious ... was there a down side to the "old" behaviour? ... it was only a few seconds of water.

thanks

No, just noise, Mr. Tunze has a tank in his office and so he has to deal with the noise of his products and the Osmolator kicking on seems to be a pet peeve, he works on it all the time, the very first ones used to kick on all the time and he added delays and a slight overfill to minimize this and this was just another improvement to reduce the noise of the pump kicking on more than needed.
