Osmolator problems

Hi Rodger,

My friends osmolator has been working fine for over a year now. Lately it just seems to pump when it wants. The indicator shows it requires filling, even when the probe is submersed.

He has always kept it well serviced and clean, so that seems not to be the problem. Any ideas?

Is it correct that for warrenty service, the item must be shipped to Germany at the owners expense?

Thanks

I really don't know what the policy is for Canada which is a sepreate market I have no control over. However, this week Phil Gilbert of Xenia the distributor of Giesemann took over Tunze distribution and I am sure he can take care of it. I would soak the sensor in vinegar overnight before doing anything and double check that the transformer is set to 9-12V and no lower. If that doesn't fix it and there is no water damage odds are the optic sensor needs to be replaced.

Hello Doug,

Please feel free to contact me if you have any problem in regards of your Tunze products (or the one of your friends) and if someone have a problem related with a warranty issue the customers surely DONT have to send it to germany for repairs.

Some steps are to be performed in order to really pinpoint the possible problems and once it had been adressed the warranty repairs and/or replacement is taken care off here in Canada.

We are very happy to work with Tunze under this new agreement in Canada and we will work closely with our customers to make them happy

Thanks

Rodger & Phil,
Thanks for the response.

I know he has already soaked it in vinegar and does so on a regular basis to keep it clean. I will mention the transformer voltage to him. Perhaps it was moved by accident when we recently cleaned out his 100g sump and moved it.

If not, its good to know about the Canadian service Phil. I sold him the new Osmolator when I thought my turf scrubber surge would screw it up. However, he recently ran my scrubber on his tank for several months and the Osmolator worked perfect.

I will now be ordering myself a new one. We mentioned the shipping and warrenty thing, because it mentioned it somewhere in the manual. However I know when I had a small stream problem, Rodger very nicely took care of it. :D

Hi Doug. My Osmolator is having the same problem tonight. What turned out to be the problem?

Roger, if I need a new optical sensor, where can I buy one by itself?

Just my luck, all this is happening 6 days before I leave for vacation. It could have been worse. It could have happened while I was on vacation. :mixed:

The optic sensor is not sold for DIY install, it is not very easy as their are four very fine wires that have to be soldered. 90% of the time the sensor is just dirty. 9% of the time the unit got wet and 1% of the time their is a real problem.
