Osmolator pump question.

Can a osmolator pump be used in salt water? I know the manual warns against kalk water and chemicals... but can I use it to move saltwater?

I'm thinking of using a Osmolator to make a auto water change setup. I would use the sensor and pump to make up salt water. The float switch would be sort of useless.

I would not use an osmolator this way, please download and read the manual for the 8555, this controller has the option to do just what you want to do. The osmolator pump is fine in saltwater, but the float switch is a critical safety and the osmolator was never intended to do water changes, it can only pump for 10 minutes before it shuts down and in 10 minutes it could only change 3 gallons of water.

Thanks Rvito. I found a DIY that uses the Osmolator as ATO adds another pump with relay and it doubles as water change.

I looked at the pump rates fro the osmolator pump and it was 26 g/hr at 35 inches. I'm under that and I only need to do a gallon a day. So the water change pump would only run for about 2-3 minutes a day. I did figure it would be limited on larger systems.
