Osmolator questions

Hi Roger,

My osmolator is playing up and i need to ask a few questions. Its around 3 years old now and i was still on my original pump. Lately the orange light on the control unit is coming on becasue the water level is dropping and the pump is activated. However after about 50 seconds the pump stops working but the orange light stays on because the water level is still low.

I put this down to;
Faulty pump
Corroded terminals
Faulty Power Supply

I've since ;
Replaced the pump to a 12v DC Peri Pump
Cleaned the terminals so they look like new!
Replaced the Power Supply

None of these things have helped and the problem persists. Do you think its time for a new unit, or is there something else that could be causing the problem.

Thanks for your time Roger.

I read the instrction manual and near the end is says;

Failure: Yellow LED "žPump on"œ is lit and the metering pump is operating at reduced power or not at all. No water or very little water is pumped. After approx. 10 minutes the yellow LED goes off and the red LED "žToo low"œ lights up.

Cause: The metering pump operates at reduced speed only. Pump operates only a few seconds or minutes. The internal current limiter switches the pump off.
Remedy: Water may have penetrated the pump motor; motor may have to be replaced. Pump requires over 1 A current.
If the metering pump does not pump sufficiently, connect Switched Socket Outlet 3150.11 and a stronger pump instead of the metering pump (see accessories).
This is the exact problem I'm having. I'm thinking because im trying to pump around 30ft that the pump is drawing more than 1A and the limit switch is cutting in.

Will using the Switched Socket Outlet solve this. If it does my question then becomes; my peri pump is a 12v pump. How do i connect it to the 3150.11?

You would just plug a transformer into the switched socket for the peri pump. Where do you live? It would be possible to upgrade the current limiting switch to 1200mA assuming your new power supply can handle that much. Our new power supply can deliver 1600mA if you bought it as a Tunze part.

Hi Roger,

I bought a new unit and everything is working fine. Could possible have been a faulty controller I'm thinking.

:)
