Osmolator Universal rail

Hi
What is the width and the length of the rail where the sensor or float switch attaches onto? Thanks

Sweet thanks. Just had to make sure I had enough room on my nano before I purchased the Osmolator Universal

Keep in mind their will be two rails and the tank will need at least a 2.5" space from the top of the trim to the water line

Is it alright to mount both on the same rail [make the two pieces on long one]?

I did find the Mounting instructions a bit too small for my eyes, had to remember legos and just figure out how they fit together :)
But all in all, nicely plug+play top up - provided the long rail is good I'll likely not have to touch it until I upgrade tanks. Good stuff, mainard!

Yes, you can absolutely connect the two rails together, just don't position the float so high over the optic sensor that a failure is worse than it needs to be, 2" is sufficient.

Would it still work if the trim to the water line be 1" instead of 2"? Reason I ask is because I've got a nano and 2" is a lot when the tank is only 12" tall

The problem is a 1" distance is required between the optic sensor and the safety back up. The holder requires a further 1" just to clamp on. You might wait a few months. I am working on a new product that will help with this dillema and it looks pretty sure we willl make it and when I know for sure I can tell you more.

TiGs Axel showed me how you could do this with a space of only 1.5" from top of the tank to the water line. Instead of clamping through the usual clamp notch in the rail you clamp further down through the cogs that the sensor clip locks into. This allows you to move the sensor exactly up to the clamp. The safety sensor can be closer to the optic sensor than 1", it could be as close as a half inch but the problem here is the displacement from working in the aquarium can trip the alarm which is really only an annoyance. Given this possibility the only issue is snails crawling on the sensors.

What we were working on and I can say with 90% certainty will be built is a mini Comline filter system for tanks up to 50gallons. It will work with our 3110/2 skimmer and be about the same size and basically function as a filter for use with chemical or mechanical media and a sensor holder. This layout makes the sensors more accurate (like the current Osmomat) and it makes the sensors safe from interference from animals and debris. It will likely not be ready until next summer but should be a great set for mini reefs and will be available as components individually or likely as a Mini Reef Pack filter. Like the current osmomat, it would be possible to be 1" from the top.

Great, thanks for the information. I shouldn't have too much of an issue with snails because I installed a divider in my tank to hide all the equipment.

Here is a pic of what I have to work with. I think I can work with 1.5" from rim to waterline
