Osmolator universal tubing

Hiya,
I am setting up my Osmolator for the first time.
Does the black output tubing go on the inside or outside of the nipple on the pump? It seems to go inside but the manual seems to indicate outside.

It goes into the nipple, the easiest way to do this is cut it at an angle so you have a point to work with and wet it with spit.
