Hi,
I have an older model Top off unit ( the one with two floats ). The unit has started giving me an error alert. The unit will work for a couple hours then the red alarm light comes on. I "power cycle" the unit and it works again for a while, then the red error light comes on again, etc, etc.. I have cleaned the float switches and it still happens. Is the pump going bad?
Thanks

Could be the pump, on the older units the pump was not isolated from the rest of the circuitry and could essentially starve the circuit board of power when it started to fail. You could also have a bad float or corroded connection. If you have a multimeter check that the resistance changes on the float when you move it (ohms). If you need a new float or pump I can help. If the connections are corroded we can try to clean it but it isn't 100% that it can be fixed. The new models are 10* improved over the old design, the plug in design of the floats was eliminated because the phono jack in particular was prone to corrosion failure. If you want you can send it to me and I will work on it, I have some scrapped old units I can get parts from but outside of floats and pumps if it is in bad shape I can't work a miracle.

Thanks for the info. I will work on it some more. If I can't get it to work properly I will just order the newer unit.
Thanks
JRF
