Osomolator IR Sensor

Roger,

My IR sensor is turning the pump on when it is about an inch under water and turning it off shortly thereafter. The unit is a little over a month old and functioned properly for the first few weeks.

The IR sensor is located in calm water.

Hints??

Thanks,

Scott

Any air bubbles getting on it? Does it maybe have some algae or calcium or salt deposits on it?

Roger,

What took so long? Let's try to trim the 4 min response time down a bit.

I gently cleaned it with a wet paper towel.

It turns on and off just fine, only an inch too deep.

Thanks,

Scott

I just cleaned it again, plugged the power back in, and with the IR sensor submerged about an inch the system turned the pump on for a 15 count or so.

Strange. They normally run for about 10 seconds after the sensor touches water and wait about 8 seconds after the water is gone to start the pump, this was done to minimize the annoyance factor of the pump noise. In a small tank this might be it?

I was just checking in, I spend weekends working on my VW Rabbit which I have totally dissassembled to restore and I tell you I am eager to get it back together so I can get my 50mpg again. Unfortunately it is one of the pick ups and parts can be scarce so I encounter alot of delays and I tend to prefer to wait until I can get a new or almost perfect used part then rush. This weekend I am sanding it down and doing body work and their is only so much of that I can take in 95 degrees and 90% humidity :)

The sensor is in a 30 g sump for a 210 g tank.

I think what I will do is turn the system off until the sump level is back to normal and start over.

I'll be in touch and good luck with the wrenching.
