AFAIK the only specimen ever kept in captivity is at the Waikiki Aquarium. I've seen reports that it ranges to Vanuatu, so I'm surprised it isn't collected there.

I was wondering the same thing. With so many fish coming out of Vanuatu why not this species?

I guess the demand for obscure reef fish such as cardinals is just not that great.

I'm in the process of asking a Vanuatu collector that very question. I bet it is rare there. IIRC it was only recently described.

I think I recall reading that this species was described in 2006.
