Ok, so this is my first time posting question. About two months ago I lost a baby 1.5'' maxima due to what I thought was my CB angel picking at it, although I never caught him in the act. When I took the shell out there some very small critters scurrying out of the shell. I thought nothing of it, my larger clams, 6"+ dersa and 4" crocea were and are great. About three weeks ago I got another 1.5" maxi from the same store I've all my clams from and its mantel is being eaten, just like the last one, but this time there are no fish in this tank. This morning I gave the little guy a good look over. What I found were those same little scurrying critters on the outside of the shell. I was able to capture some and look at them under a disecting scope. These are definatly not snails of any kind. I quite sure on the ID as an ostracod, the book was not any help a species. So my question is what can I do about these little demons, what eats them ect.

The last pic on this page is a pretty good pic of the one I saw. It was way too small to take a pic of without a scope adaptor
