Well after the inwall tank crashed I took it all down, but there is still a hole in the wall.

I will replace all the drywall and do the taping and mudding, but need someone to do the knock down on the wall for me. I have never done knock down and dont even know where to begin with it, and want it to look right.

Does anyone have any experience with this stuff? And will to do it for me?

Thanks

The texturing is the easy part. I did it for years. You can rent the machine, and practice on some scraps. You just spray on the mud, and wait until it starts to dry. It could take a couple hours. Then just drag a wide drywall knife over the area to "knock down" the texture. The cool thing is, if you don't like it, it is easy to scrape off and re-do. I would be more than happy to do t for you, but, it is a 1400 mile trip for a 3 hour job...but there is an Old Chicago in Denver so, hmmmmmm.

Thanks for the tips Bill! I am just a little skiddish about doing it for the first time.

Anyone local up for a small side job?

Thanks

Not local but I have the stuff to do it if you want to borrow it. as long as you have a compressor. (mine is too big to transport)

you can use ( contractor knockdown spray ) from lowes or home depot.its cheap. 15$ a can for 60sq. ft.. its easy. spray it on and knock it down with a dry wall knife... save your$, and DIY

How hard is it to match the existing knock down that is there? Will I be able to feater it in easy and blend it into the rest of the wall?

Thanks

When only doing a small section of a wall, matching existing texture is tricky, what "I" would do is, like you said feather the new drywall and matching it as close to the existing texture as you possibly can and then do that entire section of wall with a second knock down blending everything in. I've done that in one of my bathrooms and you can't tell where the old and new come together.

Good advice Jimmy. So do the repair area and feather it in as best as possible then do the whole wall a second time? Is that correct?

Thanks

test on cardboard.hold your knife at about15-20º. pull down gently to match. but give the texture a minute or two to blow off (dry). make sure to sand, and wipe your seems. good luck...

.........no.......*hangs head in shame*............

All the drywall is replaced and patched, but still sitting waiting to find a texture guy

Just had two bathrooms and the basement ceiling repaired. PM me if you'd like his number. Good guy and he does good work!
