OT: Anyone had or have Bengal cats?

They are a bit expensive, but I have found a good breeder who isn't too terribly expensive. Check out DiCaprio Bengals. They're in Sevierville. :)

I'm not a fan of cats either......but a cat that could kick a dogs azz is tempting.

This place is in Clarksville.

I also found this interesting.....from the other link posted above.

"The energetic Bengal is not for people who just want a leopard print cat for decoration. Whether they are fishing in the aquarium or playing in their water-bowls... "

FYI i love my blue abysinian, they are very low shedding and very smart, i got my dad one 4 years ago an it has a toy box and when its done with its toys it puts them away, mine thinks its a dog, it growls at strangers, plays fetch and walks on a leash

Check out Servals, Mark. ;) And yeah, I had thought about their interest in water being a challenge. ;)

Those sound a lot like bengals, jhutton! :)

Thanks for that link, I had no idea that was up here!

I always wanted to volunteer at a big cat rescue, and maybe will one day. Big cats are so awesome. There are several rescues in Indiana, one I checked out had several bobcats, one of them they got as a kitten and kept indoors until it got too big to keep in. It had this game it played with the man of the house (just him, none of the other males) that they caught on video. The guy would go to bed at night, and just as he laid on his back in bed, the bobcat would jump from behind the TV which was 12 feet from the guy and up on top of a dresser, and land dead smack in the middle of the guys chest and then go tearing off, ready to play for hours. I wish I could find the video of it, it was amazing the jump this cat would take.

I have a bengal, as does one of my close friends. I love him more than anything on earth, but he's trouble...
I'll give you an example.. my chameleon cages are on 4 foot high stands. The sides of the stands are flat, smooth wood. On top of those 4 foot stands are 3.5 tall cages. 2 nights ago I found him on top of those cages... 7.5 feet in the air, 4 feet of that being sheer plywood.

He's big.. he can stand up and rest his chin on the dining room table. He's on top of the fridge in a single leap when he wants to be.

He's exceedingly loyal, has to be with me all the time. Very very vocal. He doesn't trust strangers at all, and he is generally "Bad" all the time.. but so sweet and loving that its impossible to be mad at him. They're too smart to be disciplined. They just get sneakier.

He also likes to play rough.. He likes to bite my feet when I'm sleeping, hard...

Thanks for sharing your experience, bro.

I love the loyalty and vocal-ness of the breed, but I do fear their intelligence a little...

We'll see. :)
