so far, it has proved to be pretty water proof...and beer proof...since half of what i drink while i'm hanging out here at night winds up on the screen.....

nope. I'm a porter gal. Pipeline #1. Guinness next.

great rehearsal tonight! Fiddler on the Roof opens in three weeks! Lovin' this cast and crew. One of my dearest friends, Ralph, is the director..and we work sooooooooooo well together. He's excellent. I'm so proud to be his stage manager...and i love my home theater!

I'm a professionally contracted Stage Manager. Which means that theaters send me scripts and who is on the production team and I can either add them to my season if I like what I see, or decline. I do 9 shows on the average a year. Geva, RAPA, RBTL, Athena Performing Arts, Garth Fagan, some things at Turning Stone and various other professional venues. CenterStage, where I am doing Fiddler, is my "home" theater. Basically...that is where my bread and butter is...where I do 80% of my shows. I am on the board of directors, part of the educational program and am qualified to work the fly system, run the booth (lighting, sound boards) and I am in charge of Properties...basically prop storage, collection and filing for all of the shows. That is my home. I have keys.:D

NICE-how did ya get to that point after the alien abduction housing plant you were talking about-were you in armed forces?

beer on screen.

well....at the height of my career...seriously..i had just landed the 21st B-2 Bomber with the Lawler Pitch that I wrote and presented to President Clinton....my aortic valve failed. Serious enough that I was airlifted from Plant 42 to Los Angeles Good Samaritan Hospital to undergo emergency open heart surgery. There was so much damage that i now have a prosthetic aortic valve...which was only scratching the surface. I was diagnosed with a terminal illness, Takayasu's Arteritis...and it ended my career. So I tapped into what i could still do, and do well...theater and yoga. And started anew.

Everything happens for a reason. I loved my airforce job....and miss it all the time...but the program shifted to maintenance, and even though I would probably still be there in some aspect...I would have no longer been on the shop floor with all those beautiful babies...and would have most likely fallen out of love with my job.

Pretty cool-not the heart stuff! But yeah I guess everything happens for a reason. My Pops(rip) was airforce-he was a photographer. He would fly over Kanssas and other midwest states to document aerial views of the nuke towers. He said he only had to go up if things were going wrong-he said he had to go up alot! that is where he met my moms-g'night talk more later!

never got up in the air in the B-2, but one of my jobs was sitting in the co-pilot's seat when the B-2 was moved from Site 2 to Site 3...communicating with the ground crew. We used to move it down the runway around 4am...which explains why i'm awake right now.

Nice, my hands-down favorite porter is microbrewed in Berkeley for Jupiter. I found a nice microbrew stout that is somewhere on the porter end as well- Left Hand Brewing Milk Stout. I'm not a Guinness girl, but have you had Rasputin?

:)

wow kat...

but as far as the Kindle...my g/f has one cause she loves books. its perfect for her, she can get books (buy them wirelessly, or through a computer), and she is also in grad school so she can also read pdfs on it which is perfect for her.

i know she likes the fact that it has that paper feel and look.

There's no downside to a kindle IMO, I have 2 I use the k2 for a recipe book and the Dx to read on. You can buy it and send it back in 30 days if you don't like it. Just pick up free public domain books until you decide. They make wonderful covers for them that makes them even look like books. You don't save any money on books tho, not all are cheap and I've bought 10 times more ebooks than I ever did regular books.

thanks, Debi...think that's what we were looking for....love the recipe idea...i could clean out four drawers....

Cookbooks are limited, but they have more and more all the time. You can find pdf cookbooks everywhere and download calibre to convert them to the right format. I also typed out all my recipes and made my own cookbook. If you type them out in word, save it, and save to text also you can modify it anytime you want. If you put in a crappy recipe, you can just delete it out. I can read or cook. :) I do have the recipes on both and if I go see my kid I can use it either way.
Since I like to cook it's the best of both worlds for me. It's definately not a multifunction unit. If you want games, internet, an ipad would be the way to go.

This is my Dx and my own TOC.
