Ot: Avatar

So far I haven't heard a description WHY this movie is worth the price of a ticket. Personally how much a movie cost the studio or how much it's made (from sheep or actually being a good movie) doesn't inspire me to go out and see it. Also Cameron is no Scorsese :hmm2:

I don't know if your referring to this thread or reviews in general!?!? But I think this thread was started because the person had a good movie going experience and want to share his excitement about this movie amongst his peers and hopefully others that might have seen it too and felt the same. Sorry FOSELONE didn't mean to speak for you...just assuming (don't say it...assuming makes an a$$ out of you and me :)).
If you have read this thread and most of the reviews out there...then you know that Avatar is visually amazing because of its cutting edge technology and it also has a good story line! And the general consensus is that it was worth watching hence the box off success! What do you mean by "sheep"?!?!
"Cameron is no Scorese"...I think that you just like to stir the water! (pun not intended) I never compared James Cameron to any other director and I never said he was the best! But like Scorese any movie Cameron makes I WILL go and watch because I'm a fan of both and I enjoy movie of all genre...even if its not a box off success!

Karm40 is very modest. he worked on the movie for three years. (still photographer) i haven't been able to see it yet. still sold out at my local IMAX on days i can go. i am very anxious to see it in IMAX format.

well said bro...he could wait to watch it on dvd...whatever

My comments were not pointed at anyone here nor was it my intention to "stir the water". Those who know me here for so many years know better so I'm not worried that anyone would assume otherwise. I was simply basing my comments on how much some of the media gets wood over certain producers/directors or movies that throw as much money at promotions as they do content. It's all JMHO and no disrespect to those showing their enthusiasm for the film or their experience.

Happy New Year :p

loved the movie, i thought i was the only one seeing corals and jellyfish. lol
you can get 2 tix at costco for amc for $16 and upgrade to 3d for $4 and $5 for imax.

they said regular imax is better. i just saw the regular show cause everything was sold out.
wanna see it again in imax :-)

Good lookin' out. I'll try Costco this weekend, there's one up the street.

I don't know Carl and I don't know what he is talking about...
Kenfused, I'm with you on the price of a movie, I figure that's someone else's problem. In a perfect world, when I go to a movie, I don't want to know anything about it. If I don't look at my watch and have a good ride, it's worth the price of admission and Avatar is definitely worth it! Another thing you are right about, Scorsese is no Cameron!

Movie tickets, in general, are expensive now a day. However, it's all supply and demand; as long as the public willing to pay for it, it's all good.

I saw avatar in Imax and I thought the experiences worthed its price.

the movie plot, outline, structure, antagonist, protagonist (and character growth), boy meets/saves girl, happy ending is normal hollywood. the subliminal hippey moralistic (light) preaching was also typical and expected from hollywood.

aside from all that, the movie as a whole was great. the fluid effects created a realistic'ish experience. technology is 'almost' there for putting the viewer in the movie. i really enjoyed it!

I have to say i thought that this movie was going to suck and everyone was crazy for making it seem like one of the best movies ever..... but i have to agree with everyone after seeing it, its now one of my top all time movies! It was an awesome film if you think its dumb like i did you better go watch it because its Bada$$
