I dont think so...My dad had a super nice kenmore elite BBQ and it was nice and shiny for years...I do know that cheap stainless will indeed rust though

YES - All series of SS plus 300 and 400 series.
Brass burners do better in the long run in BBQ.

18-8 is the worst.
The best would be 303 or 304 stainless steel.

Most grills you have to replace your burners periodically. Mine are cast iron and last 2-3 years; they are about $12 each x 3 burners through Sears parts. (Kenmore).

If I bothered to cover my BBQ and didn't clean it with the hose, they would probably last a lot longer.

Well mine is Viking BBQ. I will ask what SS is it.
