Ok its of topic and i will soon be posting some macro coral video i have been working on but in the mean time check out my new short. shot completely with my new Canon 7D and 50mm f-1.4 usm.

http://www.vimeo.com/7860888

let it buffer and then enjoy some full screen HD fun!

Thanks for watching.

My wife and I cant tell, is she "with" the girl at the end? I was a little confused. The hand squeeze at the end looked to me like more than just friend to friend comfort.

It was a good video. While he is still walking with the roses and he goes in front of the wrought iron fence, he seems not be very smooth... like kind of skipping. I've heard bad things about a DSLR and video and how movement looks kind of choppy, is that what I'm seeing?

I thought that was incredible. Very well done tucker.

Thanks rehype, i had a lot of fun doing this.

Recty, I was purposefully trying to keep the ending ambiguous. to get that wait a second their really holding hands feeling... so the fact that you and your wife weren't sure makes me happy.

i noticed that "choppy" motion in that scene as well, i think it is more conversion related, if i forced every i-frame it looks better but is too big for internet sharing... The full version is really smooth. thanks for the comments.

That was really good watched a few times and noticed suttle little things. He looked a little like Jason biggs from american pie...

Very well done! Can't wait until I get my 7D in the mail... I like the black and white for this short but I would like to see something in brillian HD COLOR

Wow I can't believe you got Jason Biggs to star in the video lol, just kidding, I really enjoyed watching it. Hard to believe a picture camera can do that, I mess around with mine, but to get that stability and focus i'm sure requires a lot of work. If I was filming that all you would see is me zooming in and out trying to keep up with the motion of the subject. Awesome work.

thanks 90sShooter, i have done a couple "tests" in color and it looks great, some out there (my best friend) that the colors are too saturated but when set correctly (in camera or post) it looks really good.

ps when i ordered my 7D (thanks B&H) i immediately thought oh know should i have waited to afford a 5Dmk2 and then it came in the mail and well i could not be happier, 90s i know you will love this camera, i do.

lol thats funny yea my dad does photography weddings for extra cash but he just likes anything he can shoot a pic. off I'll leave his link to his site so you can see his work http://www.farmhousephotos.com/ thx's Brian

thanks for the link I'll check out his stuff.

well when you cant get Jason Biggs you get your friend that looks like Jason Biggs. lol :D

thanks for the positive feed back. all the shots here are composed with a fixed focal length lens on a tripod. so there was no zooming or moving, i have worked on some stuff hand held but you are right it takes practice. i am looking at getting a zacuto z-finder which is supposed to help with stabilization and helps you see the view finder way better.

Thanks for watching

Just got an email saying it has been delayed 2 weeks... :mad2:

Anyway, can you eloborate on the manual settings of the 7D video feature? I actually purchased a T1i and returned it partly due to the slow frame rate in 1080p and the lack of manual control. I believe the T1i defaulted to a wide open aperture. Can you adjust the aperture to increase depth of field or do you just use a "slower" lens? It seems your DOF was still pretty shallow but it was good for the effect. In some cases however it would be nice to get most of the shot in focus. Have you found this to be possible with the 7D?

I'm not into cameras, but I seriously loved the video.

PS- The ending was definatly ambiguous... and hot! ;)

This came out well. I shouldn't have watched it though, because now I want another camera even more.

thats always the problem isnt it? at one point i allmost stopped coming to this forum, drooling over all the macro shots posted here cost me at least 500$ :) so i guess you just have to get the new camera and post :D

Thanks CaliDreaminjC,

while shooting the last scenes and sitting uncomfortably close to our friend Natalie my girlfriend said, "I'm doing this for you, you know"

our actor Michael says, "wow tucker you have a nice girlfriend"

as soon as the words left his mouth he got the worst look from both girls. it was pretty funny.

and his girlfriend (Natalie) "whats that supposed to mean?"

That sucks, where did you order it from?

The manual settings on the 7D are the best to date IMO, i have only shot in full manual mode, in full manual mode you can control shutter speed and aperture on the fly and easily set the ISO. the little "finger click wheel" controls your shutter speed, the big "thumb wheel" controls your aperture, and on top of the camera there is the iso button/ which works by pushing it then using the "little finger click wheel" to select your desired iso. auto focus also works in this video mode but well manual focus is better. it shows you close to true metering, and you see what you are shooting/ you are essentially using live view. i am really impressed with this camera.

hope you get yours soon! :)

there are some pretty cool resources on vimeo that explain the video mode of this camera a little better they have a canon eos 7D group and a 7Dpro group and a "free film school/ tips and tricks of the trade group" all are great resources. hope that helps.
