OT: Circuit City Liquidation Sale

LOL and the suckas still line up thinking they are getting a good deal-

i ended up buying a samsung from frys. their prices were the lowest in town

SAMSUNG all the way. their new tv's have such unbelievable picture, but I would warn you all if making a purchase like this MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. Nothing like purchasing an expensive electronic only for it to fail right outside the warranty :D

They always do that, and even with the great discounts is more expensive than other stores. The CC around here close in January and on the last day the had 70-90% off, I gave $ to a guy working there and he hid a brand new samsung lcd 1080p 120mhz 52" and 2 GPS devices. I got the TV at 70% off for $500 and the GPS at 90% off for $50 each. The manager was furious, he was asking where did I found those because they were looking for them the day before.

The last 3 days is when you can get real deals and I don't mind go through the manufacturer for the warranty, you can actually contact them and even buy an extended one. I had samsung replace a TV before with no problems.

a450

i don't believe in "extended warranty". i used to work in sales and the "extended warranty" just meant a larger commission in my pocket. consumers usually don't go through the extended warranty. the manufacturer has a 1 year warranty. that is good enough for me since i plan on buying another tv in a years time frame. by that time, my tv won't be worth half what i paid for LOL

Nice I got the 650a..the only one they had higher was the 750a and the only difference between that and mine is it has a built in subwoofer..Pointless for me since I have a full surround with a big sub..My girflriends parents bought the 750 though since they didn't already have a sub..

robnuti..Pioneer is getting out of the T.V. business altogether.. there was a article on Yahoo about it the other day..

Extended Warranty for consumer electronics is a waste IMO. Most TVs will have 1 year manufacturer warranty as mentioned above, some even longer. If you make a purchase with a credit card, the credit card companies usually tack on another year on top of the standard warranty. You do want to confirm with them though.

Bamm Bamm, I know, thats why I bought it.

On the extended warranties, sometimes it is worth it. I puchased a Mits four years ago. The TV crapped out twice. If I had a warranty it would of saved me. Instead I ended up buying a new TV. Sure companys make money on warranties, but if you are the one it saves it is well worth it.

As someone who worked in the computer retail industry for awhile I can say that the extended warranties that we sold were a waste of money. The company viewed them as additional income hedging on the fact that good percentage of them would never be used and that would be money in the bank.

When they were used we were required to closely follow the rules spelled out in the warranty and to reject any submissions that fell outside those rules.

The one exception was screen protection warranties on Laptops and LCD TVs. Anything short of looking like you played football on or with the screen and they would replace them no questions asked.

Now adays TV extended warranties that include the LCD projection(?) unit are good too. Those things have are the usual component to fail on LCD TVs and they cost a bundle ($400 up) to replace.

Went to CC today and saw the Guitar Hero bundle for PS3 @ $35.99. Not bad because that's half price. Might just pick up 2. DVD-R's are finally at a realistic price. a 50 pack of TDK DVDR were about $10. Other stuff, don't waste $$.
