Home Depot did the same thing with their prices when they went out of business this past summer. I know what alot of prices of items are normally so when I went there when they finally had their prices slashed to "50% off" I was amazed to see the prices of alot of stuff were still at normal prices or even higher than normal AFTER the price slash and people were snatching things up at above normal pricing like they were actually getting a "deal".

it was like a shark feeding frenzy with all the people picking things up. thank god i got the web on my phone. i looked up all the prices while i was in the store. i even showed a few customers were seriously contemplating buying at these marked up i mean sale prices.

If you are looking for a tv you should've bought one before the superbowl I got a Samsung 52" LCD 120hz etc etc. top of the line for $1000off..I love it I think even more than my tank

You just have to stick it out. I bought my Samsung 1080p w/4 HDMI inputs for a lil bit under $1k after taxes 4 yrs ago. It's tough to say some years are better than others. You just have to keep a keen eye. I have not seen a comparable TV that can achieve the colors my Samsung can pull.
The "sales" prices are based off their quarterly pull and stores try to offset certain quarters from other losses. But with all these electronic stores going out of business your gonna have to think where are the overstock going to go and will it "flood" the market?

woot.com has amazing deals on flat screens every week or so. Might want to check them out daily as their one deal a day changes every day.

How much was your 65"? Woot has had one in the last couple of days for $2295 Don't know what brand but I'm pretty sure it was a high end brand name.

Actually - because of abuse, Costco have changed its return policy on many electronics. "Televisions, projectors, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPOD / MP3 players and cellular phones must be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund." However, they do increase your warranty from the typical one year to two years.

I personally think it's sicken how some people abuse Costco's return policy. My brother-in-law ex-wife used to work at a Costco's return counter, and some of the stories she tells is freaken nuts. Like people who purchase a cake for a party, come back with one slice and ask for a refund. Or the 5+ years old pee stained couch that gets returned because the owner isn't happy. Oh - the people who buy laminate floors and then return all the cut pieces because they didn't use them. FREAKEN NUTS!

Don't get me wrong, I purchase things from Costco because of its liberal return policy. I went through two different laminators in less than 1 year. Both were purchased from Fry's Electronic. I finally got one from Costco recently. If that thing dies within 2 years, I am returning it. At work, we purchased a commercial grade shredder from Costco. It broke within 6 months. Returned it to Costco and purchased a new one. Sorry - but a commercial grade shredder should not break in 6 months.

Returning a TV because of a huge price drop or after using it for 6 months and deciding you don't like it - well, that's simply unethical. Returning a TV because it broke in 6 months due to a MANUFACTURE DEFECT (and not because you threw your WII remote at it) - well, that's more reasonable.

Minh,

Wow this is surprising to me as the gentleman behind the return counter who also signs new members up told my wife and I about the policy just the other day. I have not been a member for about a year because I really don't need a truck load of snack crackers.

We ended up getting a membership again because they had the tires my truck used for a good price. I can understand and agree with you that some people have been unethical about returning things there. As far as a price drop the clerk told us that from his mouth, he said if the price drops in a big way "bring it back". I guess what I am trying to say is that if he or she is telling people that in order to sign people up, they are really not helping the situation. Me personally I have only turned one thing back and that is the pressure washer, which I told them I blew up. They were fine with it and took it back. Did I feel bad of course would I have paid money for a new one Hell Yes!

I apologize if anyone took what I was saying as unethical, I am not condoning taking advantage of any company. I am only repeating what was said to me. When someone says, if you don't like it then bring it back, that is exactly what they mean.

I little while back I bought a table saw from Lowes. I still have the same saw today just for record, but the employee said if I wanted I could take it home, then build my house then bring it back.. Now I would never do that but the fact that he said that means a lot of people might.

I guess it's like a cop telling you something is ok even though you know in your heart it's not really what is right. Most people, not all would do the wrong thing if they got the chance or the ok. I hate saying this but people these days take advantage of most situations when they get the chance, that's the sad truth that's all.

You are right Minh, I am sorry if that came out wrong.

Really one slice of Birthday cake? That's amazing...

My ex girlfriends dad returns there Basketball hoop after the kids were out of highschool/college.. they had it for 5yrs or something before they returned it.. They just didn't need it anymore.. Yeah the return policy there used to be REALLY REDICULOUS!! No it's a little harder there

Get a plasma and don't worry about the colors! Although if I were to drop some $$ on a new LCD, it would be a Sony. The new Bravias contrast levels are getting VERY close to plasma which was one of their biggest edges. In the end, all that matters is that you like it. If it looks good to you, then buy it. I'm not so sure you will get any real "discounts" from this liquidation sale because most of the good sets will be gone way before they actually start marking things down (if it ever gets tot hat point)
