I would leave it, just make Firefox your default. Since Firefox doesn't have Active X, there are still some times you might have to go back and use stupid IE to make a website work properly.
Start/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/Add/Remove Windows Components
If you are running Winblows XP the "Windows Components Wizard will open up. Uncheck Internet Explorer.
You are not saving so much and it is best to just leave it and make the FireFox the default Browser. Which can be arrived at in the icon directly below Add/Remove Windows Components.
(color wheel icon with label Set Program Access And Defaults)
I use IE Tab for viewing pages that people haven't programmed to work with Firefox. You just right click on the link and then choose "open in IE Tab" then it opens in your Firefox but is using the Internet Explorer engine.
It is just an addon for Firefox and is free.
I also like Colorful Tabs which makes each tab a different color so it is easier to keep track of them. COLORFUL TABS
and I like Tabs Open Relative which opens the next tab to the right of the one you are on so if you have 3 open and you are on the left tab, when you right-click a link and choose "open in new tab" it opens to the right of the first tab instead of the FAR right tab.
Hyperwords, makes every word in the browser able to be highlighted and then you can choose to define it, search google for that word etc... adds a lot of power to your browser IMO. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1941
TabScope, lets you see a complete thumbnail sized picture of the website by hovering over each tab. You can even see video moving when you hover over a tab with video going on it. REALLY helpful when you have lots of tabs open. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4882
New Tab Homepage, allows you to just hit CTRL+T to open a new tab like normal but instead of opening a blank page it opens your homepage in the new tab. I use google for the homepage so if I hit CTRL+T I have a new google tab open and the cursor is already inside the search box. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/777
