Would anybody on here thats good with computer be able to help me out. I'm trying to install Maya 2009 on my comp for my class which started 2 weeks ago. My teacher first gave me a cd with the program, but when installed and opened the program says fatal error and closes. I then attempted to download the 2010 program off the autodesk site. That did the same thing. My teacher then gave me another website that I could download the program from, but the "crack" folder is not downloadable aka I can't get any of the installation instructions. I've got homework due on friday, but haven't even used the program yet.

Any attempt at help would be greatly appreciated and I coudl throw in a frag or 2 for fixing this dang computer. I just bought it about 2 weeks ago and its been nothing but troubles. I think the biggest problem is that it has Windows Vista 64 bit installed on it, but I'm fairly computer illiterate and don't know much about any of this.

Please help if you can! I'm located in weston, but am willing to meet up somewhere if needed as I really need this fixed!

make sure the program your are trying to install is for your CPU architecture, ie 64-bit or 32-bit and OS version.

i have a feeling that the one he gave me is the 32 bit and thats why that won't work...but can't figure out why the 64 bit one that I downloaded wont work.

32bit still works fine on 64bit os. I would try going to the C:/program files (x86)/maya [or whoever makes the program] and finding the actual .exe file, probably called maya 2009.exe then right click on it, go to the compatibility tab, and check the run as administrator box, and then you can mess around with the other compatibility settings as well.

It could also be a driver issue, so make sure your drivers are up to date, especially your video card drivers, since I think that programs like maya and such look to the video card for acceleration.

You r welcome to borrow my computer until you cn figure out what you need, it is a power mac but it has windows xp installed under parallels and it works perfect (I'll say better than in a win based machine) just call me if you want to p/u
