I've played with google earth quite a lot actually, but I didn't do the map there because I thought it would be hard to export without the satellite image. Satellite images, technically speaking, are not a map as we would define them in psychology (of course I think many psychologists are quacks... which is why I always say I study "child development"). Anyway, I just needed a simple line map and I think I've achieved that, so no harm no foul.
I do love google earth though and I've been slowly trying to put specific locations from "every" vacation I've been on into my .kmd file so that I have a spatial record of where pictures have been taken and I can get a different view of the places I've been. It can be quite fascinating (in the really dorky, calculating the surface area of sand way).
