OT- Help installing memory in my computer

I bought extra memory for my computer, and I am looking for a little help, or input on installing it.
Is this an easy process? Is there anything special I need to do?
I have installed modem cards before, but never a memory card.
This is going into a Dell Dimension 2400. If that is any help.
Thanks in advance.

Theres a few computer engineer types on the forum here that will be more help but whne I did it it was a s simlpe as opening the case and slideing the memory into the slot. The manual that came with my dell had very clear step by step instructions, hardest part of the process was unhooking all the cables from the back of the pc..... all in all a 15 minute project and I was up and running.

Fairly easy. Open the case. You will see where memory is already installed. If you have an open slot next to it, make sure the white clips on the outside are pushed open outward. Then line the memory up and when you push it in, the white clips will go inward and you will see it pop in place. Make sure you have the pins lined up correctly. On the chip you will see 1 or two slots depending on your type of memory. You can see the same orientation where the memory goes. Do not put the case back on the pc after you put it in. Fire up the pc and make sure it boots up fine. If you hear a couple beeps, then either the memory isn't in correctly, it isn't compatible, or something else. Most likely that won't happen but more of a pain in the butt to have to reopen the whole case.

I assume you are talking of RAM. First make sure you have the right chipset(DDR, DDR2) and the right speed(PC3200, etc.). It should be a fairly straightforward install unless you have multiple empty slots. Usually it will just be placing the memory in the next open slot, but sometimes MB makers set up a site specific array for their memory. I know with my computer, my first two chips had to be placed in a specific order and the next ones do too. Besides this, then you should be fine with the instructions above. If you need help, I know how to build computers and I can give some assistance.
