OT: HP Photosmart Printers

I was looking at picking up a nice photo printer (HP Photosmart D7350), after seeing how well they actually print.

One of the question I have is do they have a Ink monitor showing how much ink of each cartridge is used?

This printer has 6 ink cartridges and I plan on doing a lot of photo printing..

Or if there is another brand of Printers that would be better for Photo printing for 8x10's, not just the 4x6's.

Don't do it. It's much cheaper to use walgreens.com for everyday stuff and mpix.com for the nicer stuff. When you factor in ink and paper you're at least 5 or 10 cents per print more than doing it online (even including postage if you go that route). That doesn't even factor in the initial cost of the printer.

mayo is right

I got a pretty solid photo printer a few years back, it was a 7 cartridge unit

anyways, after doing the math I figured out that each picture ended up costing about $1.00....obviously prices have come down since then, but when you can upload to walmart.com and have them printed and pick them up in an hour for like 0.13 you can't beat that (although their quality is sort of small)

since I have never priced out 8x10s (but will soon for wedding pics) I dont know how much those cost at walmart or online, but those might be one place where printing your own would come ahead (but again, Im speaking out of my *** like usual)

I use dotphoto.com

I usually wait till I see .07 prints and then order a bunch. I develop somewhere between 8,000-10,000 pics a year and I can't even imagine the ink costs not to mention the time spent. Then I wait for them to run a "free shipping on print credits"

They use Fuji Crystal Archive Paper

More ink, 8x10 paper is more expensive. So you proabably wouldn't come out ahead.

IMO- Don't buy a printer to use for medium-large amounts of photo printing nor an inkjet but a laser is too expensive

reggae, thanks for the heads up on the website

I need to print wedding pictures and other pics to frame in larger sizes

No worries. It's a good site. I've been using it for about 4 years. Nice thing is, you have your album online so if you ever lose your pics for any reason, they are still there. I always have mine backed up on dvds.

You're looking at a wedding package? Is there person taking your pics going to give you the negatives/memory? Not a real standard practice in that line of work. We have ours but were in jamaica.

Either way, you can either do packages or even bulk. If you create an account, they'll email the specials and you can usually get 8x10s for about 1.30

we got married in July, we got a digital package, so we got a DVD full of high res pics that we can print ourselves...got like 50% off for doing it that way, so I figured what the heck

just signed up at dotphoto.com and got 50 free 4x6s

they are also having free shipping on orders over 19.99
