Looking for deep-cycle marine 12VDC battery for Solar panel project. Let me know if anyone has any used ones laying around.

Thanks.

karl - Paul has reconditioned UPS units.
John - Hmm. Will check out walmart/autozone and check prices.
Kevin - Dang!

Thanks.

I have two car batteries I used on my UPS till the UPS died.
They still work great.

Let me know if you need them.

Hey Steve.

I have a lead acid battery as well. I think they will work fine for a UPS since the battery would be normally topped off by the UPS and won't suffer the drain/recharge cycle that tends to kill lead-acid batteries. Except during power outtage of course!

I'm told that for a solar recharger where the battery only gets charged when the sun is out the battery has to suffer numerous drain/recharge swings and hence the need for a deep-cycle battery.

Thanks for the offer, though.

I have a solar charger hooked to two 12v RV batteries. Works great. The RV dudes tell me a great alternative that really holds the juice are two 6v golf cart batteries-- I guess you can hook 'em up some way to get 12v -- I'm obviously not an electrician... Might be something to check craigslist for.

places like costco and sams club are the places to buy them. I got my redtop for 99 bucks at costco with the yellow being about 20-30 more.
