Last week my transmission gave out on Orange Avenue and i have had two mechanics look at it and both say the transmission is totally burnt out. I dont have the $2000 they say it cos to replace it, and i know i can find one cheaper and my neighbor can install it for free. If anybody knows of where i can find one for a 2.2L 4 Cylinder 1998' Chevy S10 pickup truck, please let me know. I need to find one ASAP or i may not be able to work. I have called the local yards and no-one has one for my truck, but i really dont know what to do. Mike Alers was a big help and gave me a starter, which i also needed, so that saved me some well needed money, and i thank him profusely. But if anybody knows where i can get a transmission, please PM me! Thank You

Mike, you are da man...and i dont give that title to many people, so conscider that something special...lol

seth, I am there with you. Lost the transmission in my truck 2 weeks ago. Codes say its solinoids and converter clutch (which may be solinoid related). Replaced the entire valve body and solenoids last wed and its still not working right. Dont know if that means I did it wrong, or the converter clutch is still having problems, or if in the process it burnt up the bands. grrrr.

check out this....it may or may not help.

Thanks Chad for the link, i will definately keep that in mind when i need a part and cant find it locally. But apparently, the ENTIRE transmission burnt out, dont know how, or why, i am not a doctor, but i just know that i need a new one...lol

hey mike, you have any hookups on used transmissions? Looks like I am going to do either a full rebuild or a swapout.
