Don't do that!!! Now you are making me miss my koi pond. I can't afford another expensive hobby!

Koi do have personality don't they. The one thing I can't get over was how easy it was to breed koi. I mean, I had hundreds of babies when I drained my pond.

I know someone else who has Koi that keep having babies. I must have gotten all males or something...I dunno... I have had these in there three years now ( well a couple got eaten by a hawk ) ... but we've only seen one or two new fish pop up....

We have a couple of goldfish in there too..and I know they can breed together...but they just never seem to...

We do however get millions of tadpoles in there every year!!!

Actually, I don't find this expensive at all. We set it up three years ago...spent about $50 on Koi...then threw in some feeder gold fish. We've had to replace a few koi...but most have lived..and the feeder gold fish are now about 5 inches. Other than fish food, and the occassional plant ... we don't really spend any money on it. The rock around the pond was given to me by a friend after a racoon ate all her koi...and she decided to tear hers down. I also snag some from NC each yr when we go there on vacation.

BTW...if anyone wants any water hyacinth...let me know. I know its controlled in FL...so I just throw it in the garbage when it starts getting out of hand...but thought someone might want some for their pond if they have one.

My pond was pretty cheap AFTER setting it up. I know what I will do differently next time though. My favorite fish I kept was shubunkins (I can't spell) they were beautiful. My pond became over run with hyacith, letuce, and lillys. I think that is where they laid all of their eggs.

Maybe next time I go to tenessee, I will pick up some rock from a quary, and start a new pond. Still have all of my pumps and such.

I have wanted to do a pond for many years even before setting up a reef. I know that one day I will. Let's see a full shot of the pond. I would like to see the rocks around the pond and how it looks.
