OT - My Planted Tank

I have had my 120g setup as fw planted for several months now. In December, I bought a 54g AGA corner bowfront. I finally got it all together!

I'm proud to say that I did all the labor myself. Oh, except the cut out areas in the canopy for equipment to hang over.

Here are the before and afters..

I'm not 100% happy with the 'scape yet, but we'll see how it turns out.

Please excuse the dirty line across the tank. I let water sit stagnant in the tank for a week. I was going to wait til tomorrow to finish cleaning up and take pics, but I couldn't stand it..had to take pics. hehe

Amanda how do you deal with snails? do you treat your plants before putting them there?

I have a cichlids tank and I put some plants. Now there are no plants and my tank is full of snails. I cannot treat the tank because I have a pleco and my botia cannot eat all of them. Do you have an idea how to get rid of them?

Loaches!! With Cichlids, I'd go with clown loaches. Yoyos are, IIRC, the best snail eaters, but they will probably be eaten by your cichlids.

I never had snails in mine until this last bunch of plants I bought. The seller didn't warn that they had snails. grr! Oh well.

Nice microsword, or atleast it looks like microsword.

Yeah, most retailers have snails just because of the constant flow of fresh plant shipments and what not, unless they medicate their plant tanks. I personally liked having a few snails just so the loaches could have a special snack.

Are you dosing hte tank with Co2? I had a good friend who did that and his plants would actually pearl (a stream of very tiny oxygen bubbles that come out of plants.)

Are you using florite or anything for substrate or is it just gravel?

It's Eco Complete substrate. Made by Carib Sea.

I am going to use CO2, but I have no idea how to do it yet. I bought a complete system in that big lot of equipment I bought/sold. I can't wait to see the growth!!

Oh, and yeah, those are micro swords in the front-center. I have some more coming tomorrow or Tuesday.
