OT - New twist to an old scam

We sell Papillon puppies and currently have an ad in the Cleveland paper. Tonight we got a call from “IP Relay” per caller id. They wanted us to send them an email so they could follow up on interest in the puppy. Reluctantly we sent them an email. They returned with legitimate sounding questions and ask for pictures. The next email was the old familiar scam. They would be sending a cashiers check and some one will pick the dog up. The check will be larger than the agreed price so the person picking up the dog can ship it overseas.

Just thought I would pass this along incase it happens to anyone here. I suspect they saw the ad because most papers put their classifieds on line now.

I always hoped that someone would offer me this type of situation so I could get the police involved and have one of them there for the exchange. Then they could just run it over to the bank with the guy there to see how legal the cashier's check was :D

I think it would be fun to watch.

I was selling an old rusted out ranger ($400 max) on ebay and someone emailed me and wanted to know If I would ship to sweden... lol. I was like are you crazy the shipping would cost 20 times more then the truck... then they said they could have someone pick it up and ship it for them.... I ended up telling them no thanks not worth the trouble...
