Insurance companies are meaner and more ruthless than the police about deadbeats like this, but they aren't going to investigate an accident they aren't going to cover.

Not if claim for uninsured motorist.

what are you doing driving without insurance...the other kid didn\'t have insurance either...both cancel out.

I thought MonkeeFish does have insurance, the kid that hit him is the one doesn't have insurance.

I think he was in the transition of renewing his insurance, but it seems to have lapsed...therefore he wasn't covered at the time of the accident. It sound like one of those worst case timing scenarios...the one day he doesn't have coverage, he gets hit.

Let this be a lesson to everyone....DONT LEAVE AN ACCIDENT WITHOUT A POLICE REPORT!!! I got hit by some kid over a year ago on the freeway..he was in a car with 3 friends and I was on my motorcycle..luckily Im hear to tell the story...when the kid finally pulled over he apologized..admitted fault...swore he would fix my bike..called his mom..she promised the same..when it came time to fix the bike..they had the nerve of telling me that they don't think my estimate was fair..I was even giving them a break on the estimate to be a nice guy....well as it turned out..they went from sorry sorry to it was my fault in no time..the kid conspired with his friends to say it was my fault....and without a police report I had no proof I was in the right..so I got screwed......NEVER leave an accident without a report no matter how minor it is...people are your best friend right after it happens and they promise their children to you but its not long before it becomes an "every man for himself" ordeal and fingers start getting pointed....I filed a police report after the fact but even the police officer who took it said it doesnt do any good because it was based on my testimony which can be biased instead of an officer at the scene of the accident...

Dude, just how long was the lapse in your insurance???? If you still dont have insurance now then it doesnt look like your gonna get very far....I think you can put a lein on his car through the courts..you have to get the paperwork and fill it out..if he's under age then the parents are still liable...oh well if they disowned him already...if you shake them the'll cough up where their son is...if they really don't want to be held at fault....good luck....
