OT simple Plumbing question

this should be a simple one for licensed plumber, please cite if you can the NPC section, but is it legal to run gal for natural gas, or do you have to run black or green
 
Based on the attitude of your inspector, I'd run black pipe irregardless of what code is................... ;)
 
problem is that I can't cut or thread 1 1/2 but HD will and they only have gal anyways, I suspect I am going to be pulling the code book on this guy anyways and filing a complaint with the state, if I do, I just want a list of things he is calling me on that meets code
 
I would think color coded piping is just so that people know what it is...i.e. new construction gas pipes are green, low voltage electric is grey, etc....
BUT.....I would just ask your gas company......
 
i just got off the phone with the city inspecter. just so long as it is 6" above ground it is fine, a bit more expensive but fine and meets NUPC and CUPC standurds, and a lot cheeper than hireing a plumber
