My 7 y/o wants a sugar glider from Santa this year. Does anyone know a breeder/seller locally where I might be able to find one?

Also, are there any good sites for info on these critters?

We had 2 and they would breed like rabbits. Pretty cool little guys. Build them a nice big cage. Also handle them often. They can bite on occasion. All in all neat little critters. Oh yeah put a red bulb on the cage so you can watch them at night,

We got ours in west tn at a flea market. I forget where in west tn the lady lives that breeds them. Yes get them small and handle them often. A child will have no problems as long as they handle them.

the flea market at the west tn fairgrounds usually has a vendor that brings them there for sale. I believe they are there on the 1st weekend of the month although, as it gets closer to christmas they come more.

If I am not mistaken they also have a store in or near nashville that carries a lot of the sugar glider accessories as well.

I had no trouble with that link above. A wealth of info there.

Thanks. I will keep my eyes open. I am also planning a trip to Friendly Franks on Friday (say that 5 times fast lol). The girls are out of school Friday and I think we are going to take advantage of the free exhibit at the Discovery Museum so we will be right around the corner anyways. Maybe Bethany can meet a real live sugar glider and I can get some info on them.

Thanks everybody!

I just looked and there are two ads in today's paper. One in Mississipi and the other with a local number for Sugar Gliders. Both say babies.

If you don't have a paper, PM me and I'll send you the phone numbers from the ads.

They need A LOT of attention. And can be picky eaters. Handling often is an understatement. Handled almost constantly is a must. On you around you. And forget sleeping. They are almost completely nocturnal. Not to put a damper to much on them. I loved my pair, but eventually gave them to Vet Pets because I couldn't devote so much time to them.

Wow. She is in school all day and has a bedtime of 9:30. Being nocturnal are they noisy so that you are unable to sleep? Would getting two decrease the amount of time she had to handle them?

I am supposed to go see the joeys at the sugar glider ranch, I believe the same one as in the ad glitzyone posted.
