15 year old Inca girl frozen for 500 years

Unearthed in 1999 from the 22,000-foot summit of Mount Llullaillaco, a volcano 300 miles west of here near the Chilean border, their frozen bodies were among the best preserved mummies ever found, with internal organs intact, blood still present in the heart and lungs, and skin and facial features mostly unscathed. No special effort had been made to preserve them.

Pretty amazing if you consider the altitude they were found at. I've climbed to about 14,000 feet and that was hard enough. Another 8,000 feet is hard to believe. Especially without oxygen which would have been the case back then.

I wonder what could have driven them to climb that high? Religious reasons are the only thing I can think of.

Did you find some more info on it,didn't see anything about a parent just other bodies,If you did I'd like to check it out.

I can't imagine what it would have taken to get them up that high. Unless they were drugged after they climbed up there.

There have been similar "finds" in South America in regards to sacrifices on mountain tops. I recently watched a documentary on these. Hiking up that high is no small feat.
