OT: Stolen Electric Bass

Somebody walked into our church sometime between Sunday morning and tonight and stole a lap top, the youth pastor's guitar, and my Ibanez electric bass (and soft carry-case). If you guys happen to see an Ibanez 200FM bass (the blue one in the link) sitting in a pawn shop, please let me know. :(

Not so worried about mine, but if we find my bass we'll find the acoustic guitar (which cost a few more $$$ than mine) -- and that he loved playing more than any guitar he's ever had. You become attached to certain things, I suppose. Like my ancient, 30-year-old, monetarily worthless, beat-to-death Yamaha guitar (my first one). Now I'd be sad if that one grew legs.

if ya'll submit a police report, i believe the pawn shops are required to turn in a list of pawns to the police every month. it may turn up. we had a bunch of power tools of ours turn up that way.

some people suck.

Dana is correct the Pawn Shops are supposed to submit the S/N off of everything they receive in for the week to the Knox County Sherrifs Dept. Now as to whether or not they actually do this I can't say. I doubt it, because after our house got robbed 2 years ago yesterday; the only place that actually reported any of our stuff (only about 1% of the actual stuff stolen) was McKays Used Books (props to them btw). I have a hard time believing that these idiotic thieves were able to funnel the rest out of town.

We have gone through the security cameras and have good video of two guys walking out with the guitar and bass. As soon as the police report is filed and I get a copy, I intend to visit and/or call the local pawn shops. :)

good luck to ya guys! Maybe you should post a "WTB Bass guitar" on craigslist and see if you get any hits :P

Ya, definatly keep an eye out on craigslist for ibanez basses, eBay too. Also check not only the pawn shops, but the music stores, a lot of them offer consignment or trade-ins. Good luck.

K.C.

The investigator who took the report actually recognized the guys and have a name. Apparently not their first time doing this. My afternoon tomorrow will be spent visiting many places that buy and sell used equipment -- not a bad way to spend the afternoon even given the circumstances...

That's good news. Hopefully they will not have had time to "sell off" the items before they get busted.

Good luck, people will do anything during hard times.
