Rochester has a new delight! The Sunrise Steakhouse on Jefferson Rd in Henrietta is AWESOME! I just got back from having the best sushi/sashimi that I have ever had...freaking amazing!

Its in the same building that was formerly Hooters/Cheerleaders USA. They have beautifully and completely redone the inside and its now a VERY classy place. They have a full menu besides the sushi and also do tableside hibachi if that is your thing. If you enjoy sushi saki or any other type of Japanese cuisine you should really try it out.

BTW Its hands down my new favorite restaurant in this area.

They weren't overly expensive...I got a sashimi sample plate(13 pieces on rice) and an Angry Dragon Rol (six pieces)l and it was about $30. I also overate so it wasn't really that pricey. I didn't make it past the sushi page in the menu for much more than a glance so I can't tell you about the rest...

I don't really care for dinosaur the catered our last work party and I wasn't really all that impressed. Sticky lips on the corner of culver and Atlantic is 100 times better imo.

Arrived at 6:45 Thursday evening. NO ONE other than the help was there- 2 waitresses sitting at the register, 2 guys in the cook/prep area, 3 sitting at a booth by the restroom hallway.
Seated immediately, across from the occupied booth. 15 minutes later, we decided to leave. As soon as we mentioned it between us, a waiter came over and asked if we'd been helped yet. He said he'd take care of us. Took drink orders and immediately served. The beer was cold, the Vodka cranberry was missing the Vodka. Not even any ice in it.
Ordered an appetizer and Hibachi. 1st course took us by surprise. Absolutely excellent. The sauce should be bottled. (You gotta give it a shot yourselves to decide what you like. I'm not sayin', other than the fish was FRESH and RAW!)
Hibachi? The seared tuna was done in 3/4" cubes. I personally believe it would be almost impossible to sear it without overcooking. Exactly what I expected when tabled. Well done. Not what I was looking for anyway. The rice was lightly fried. The mixed veggies were done to perfection. The sesame oil was flavorful, but not overwhelming. The ginger pcs. added a surprize zing.
The shrimp hibachi was a solid 8.75. Prepared the way I like it. Seared, but barely warmed in the middle- just past the slimey raw stage. Excellent spice. Sauces were refreshing.
Dino vs. Sunrise? Apples and Oranges. BUT I will say, the last time I was in Syracuse (Dino), the food was awesome. The last time in Rochester? will be the last time I go to the Rochester (Dino) location.

BTW- (Sunrise)Dinner Entrees-$20 Lunch-$10. How can you beat that?

So I must say that this was very useful...

My wife actually reconsidered going there.
I am sure we will go now based on this thread.

Ironically, the hooters stigma persists in our near memory of the place.
Not a good memory for my wife. Maybe that will change... were in that area almost all of the time.

Surprised about the comments on Roch Dino.
We went there before the Amerks game on Sun night. It was great.

The hooters stigma and the travesty that followed cheerleaders USA are exactly why I mentioned the sweeping changes. It went fromy delightfully tacky yet unrefined to skeevey and is actually fairly classy now. Not snooty but all in all a pretty nice place to enjoy a meal.
