OT: Too late for crabgrass preventer in BA?

Although I bought a bag of crabgrass preventer 3 weeks ago, I didn't get a chance to spread it until today... is it already too late? I saw some grass that looks a bit like crab grass (though my grass is pretty crappy anyway, it's a mix of all sorts of grass I think).

I foolishly read on the internet that you don't have to spead preventer until like April, but of course, in the Bay Area, it's already green.

Any opinions? Did I just waste the preventer I spread today?

i know my mom, who has one crazy green thumb spread it last saturday. but then again, she has been know to procrastinate a few things as well

That's basically stuff with Halts (Holts? Haults?) in it? If so you can still spread that out.

Yeah, it has that Halts stuff in it. I bought the stuff that also has fertilizer (yes, yes, chemi-fertilizers = bad), since I was spreading stuff anyway. I used to feel worse about it until I realized that my lawn was basically a crabgrass garden.
