Anyone own one of these? I was thinking about picking one up. At half the price of the Ipad and Xoom, and the same processor as the Xoom, it looks very appealing. I haven't had a chance to check one out in person yet. Wondering here if anyone has any input?

Chris, my fiance has the WiFi xoom. I had it rooted and Overclocked for a while but no matter what it just was not stable so I took it back to stock form. It is a whole lot of fun just stock though.

I had ample time with one just the other day actually and I was actually impressed by it. Running Android smoothly and loaded with apps. WiFi was fast as I tethered it to my Thunderbolt. However, overall it did function as expected meaning it felt half as good as an iPad or xoom feels. I wpuld go ipad over all others.

If it ain't an ipad, it ain't awesome! For the minor price difference go with the apple... The resale value alone makes it a much better investment.

There is no USB port on the ipad and this is a very important feature to me because I will be using wireless tether from my cell phone which tends to drain my battery pretty quickly when I use it. With the GTab I will be able to plug my cell in and not worry about killing my phone battery so quickly.

Jailbroke apple device can do a lot of cool things. Android devices are too fragmented. Apple has the best devices so far. In a few years it may change as we get into quad cores.

Instead of a tethered boot using a usb, you would use a lot less energy using bluetooth and stay wireless. (Just like i do to connect my iphone and ipad)thats if conserving energy is really one of your main goals. Any idea if stores have it on display... Id like to check it out before i continue to bash it, does it run Honeycomb3.0 at least?

I have a rooted droid x and am running apex currently. I wireless tether but it seems to take a lot from my battery, thus having a usb port is high on my priority list for a tablet.

IMO the idea of charging your tethered phone simultaneously via USB from a wireless device is counter productive, as it will drain your tablets battery life.

In regards to your comments about open source; it's the same reason why applications constantly crash, and the software constantly needs updates.

More iPads are sold than any other tablet on the market combined. Additionally, every tablet is designed to be nearly identical to an iPad. Coincidence? I think not. /fanboyrant

Fair enough I so have a rooted x and use the tbh patch. Doesn't seem to drain

I'm a sys admin and get to play with a lot of toys. I've played with the Xoom, iPad, and iPad2. If I were to buy one for myself, I'd probably buy the Xoom.

Crappy Open Source crashes a lot. So does some very expensive software (I'm looking at you Autodesk products). Good Open Source rarely, if ever, crashes.

The reason more iPads have been sold is the same reason why more of their iPod have been sold. There are mp3 players that are just as good on the market, but people still buy the iPod. Why? Marketing. To be cool (that's what everyone is doing). Plus, the iPad came out before the Xoom and other tablets. It already had the hype.

I am posting this from my new g tablet, and no complaints thus far.

Except for the keyboard! Any help on changing it to a normal keyboard and not this sepeated ergo style keyboard?

In the end there are pros and cons with each device. Apple people just like their products "to just worK". You very rarely will see a half baked device come out of Apple (mobile me).

Acdraindrps- I am glad you like your new tablet.
