OT: Wireless network

Woo Hoo!! Something worked... Thing was about to drive me crazy!!!

This is pretty much how I always feel when I get some bug in my my wireless network resolved! I have very little idea what I'm doing, but my fumbling around works eventually... The old standby of turning everything off and back on is always a favorite remedy.

I have a desktop and a laptop connected wirelessly w/a Belkin router. All this talk of securing the router is disturbing b/c it's Greek to me... I don't even have a password enabled for access to the router settings.

Yes it's a Dell.. But even my friend has a Gateway and it has it on his as well. Some with built in Wireless come with On/Off switch on the side. The windows error kept saying something about turning the On/Off switch.. I looked all over the place for that switch..

I got the FN F2 as well, it's the norm if you don't have a switch I believe.

what model dell? the models i remember having a switch in addition to the softkey of fn+f2 had the switch located on the right side near the front of the device. it's pretty small. i'd have to know what model you had before i knew for sure though. nothing wrong with dells.. i'm on a I9300 at the moment.

I spent several years on Boeings helpdesk before diving into the network admin/security world.
