OT: WTB Broken 3red light XBOX360.

I'm going to wait it out to see who wins. The other day Blockbuster reported they are going exclusivly to BR because 70% of their rentals are BR. They said netflix is considering the same.

The blue ray that comes with the PS3 is a top notch player and is on par with most of the stand alone Blue ray players on the market.
As far as gaming systems go, I think the 360 is better for gaming and if you compare some of the shared platforms the 360 has outdone the PS3 in graphics on most of them like Madden.
With that being said, the PS3 is a better buy if you want an all in one media system IMOP.

I think graphic wise the PS3 will win. I just played Forza2 on Xbox360 and after playing the HD demo of Gran Tourismo on PS3 I will wait for the PS3 when GT comes out. It is unreal!

Graphics don't win system wars. Games and gameplay does. PS3 cant survive on 1 or 2 great titles a year. Wii is a prime example of graphics vs gameplay. Try and find a wii locally... anywhere... They aren't to be found. Their gameplay walks all over just about anything else out right now. If Metroid had the online ability of Halo, believe me i think we'd watch xbox sink. Which brings up another topic of the console wars online playability, its the future of gaming no questions asked, PS over 5yrs now is barely starting to get it right now. I honestly want PS3 to get on the ball I think its tech specs are off the charts and i think it'll only get better. But unfortunately specs don't win wars.

As far as BBuster they have a 180day exclusive contract w/ BR. As far as netflix going BR exclusive too, I wouldn't count on it. Esp since there HD-DVD rentals are higher then their BR rentals right now. Plus it allows them to offer something their competition (BBuster)doesn't. This will be a long format war. But i honestly believe price and quality titles will be the ultimate decider and BR just costs too much too make and theres just not enough profit. The absolute best thing BR has going for it is Fox. Kids who will watch the disney titles don't care about HD quality, atleast not enough. And for adults to plunk down 5-700 for their kids to watch hi def i just dont see it happening. Amazon.com is a HUGE promoter in this Hi-Def media war firmly shows their preference for HD-DVD. They do offer both, but if you watch what they push as well as look at their top sales and sales numbers overall again HD-DVD is on top. I think blu-ray would've been a great idea but the bottom line is, it just costs too much for your avg joe run of the mill wal-mart shopper. And when all is said and done, thats who's going to be the decider of who wins this format war. And they care about one thing at the end of the day, PRICE. They aren't going to care about 1080p24 or 1080p60, they dont know the difference nor do they care too. Most can't tell the diff between 720p,1080i, and 1080p.

I meant the PS3 has better graphics...Gran Tourismo looks way better than Forza 2 and GT plays better too. You are right on the playability part. That's why I have a Wii...but it is also the price...Wii is half the price of the PS3. I am a car nut and will buy the PS3 for Gran Tourismo when it comes out and the fact that it will play BR. I am not looking forward to changing my DVD library to BR though.

I still havent bought the xbox 360 because I am afraid of it. Hopefully they get that freezing and red light business fixed. I played Halo 3 the other day and it is addictive. I'm sure the people who waited will buy it now just for Halo 3. But I will wait until the price drops.

We all have seen tons of game systems fail like Atari Jaguar, Sega CD, Dreamcast etc. Heck I even own a Neo Geo right now if you remember those. The main reason is not enough software. I would hate to see PS3 tank because of this. I'm sure they will get the ball rolling soon.

What are you going to do with those extra xbox parts anyway? And not to get off topic but hows the cube????? I moved the Nigripes to their new home so they stopped spawning for a while. Will let you know when they do.

Many of the latest reviews on the blu-ray player puts Sony's at the very top. It sounds like someone just wants to get on the bandwagon of bashing Sony. I have no issue agreeing that the PS3 doesn't have the support on the games yet. It is still a toss up who will "win" the war. It doesn't really mattter to me. However, the PQ on the PS3 for the blu-ray is extremely nice and beat out some of the 1000.00 players.

As the cheapest way into the Blu-ray movie experience, the Sony PS3 makes a lot of sense. The overall picture quality is comparable with any stand alone unit, and in fact excels when it comes to picture sharpness. -hdtvorg

I could see that the images from the PlayStation 3 appeared noticeably sharper and crisper, with more depth and detail than the Samsung unit produced - PCWORLD

The Philips BDP9000 has some great design touches and excellent Blu-ray image quality, but its high price, less-comprehensive audio capabilities and the comparative affordability of the PlayStation 3 suggest that you should probably hold off. - cnet

I could post more if you want. The bottom line is this. Are there better players out there? Sure. However to me it is all features that aren't really that big of a deal. Most of the issues are taking a couple more menu items to get specific audio to play. Upscale was fixed. You also have to consider, it's been out for awhile so there are always enhancements. PS2's DVD player works just fine but there are better featured ones out. That's just common. But I can tell you this. You won't see noticable picture quality over another one imo. It looks extremely sharp and amazing on my 65" TV.

I don't own a xbox360 so I don't comment on how well the HD player runs.

We're so far off topic at this point... LoL I have actually been putting together xbox 360 aios and repairing them w/ the 3 red lights. I just haven't had one of my own yet.

As far as the cube, the coraline has been cleaned off and washed out. But thats about as far as i've gotten to be honest, its prepped of wet sanding/buffing to take out all the scratches. I've just been slammed w/ work. That its kinda been sitting. I ordered the DAS ex-1 skimmer about a week ago, trackin says it should be here monday. I've also placed order for the new icecap 250w electronic/hqi ballast and i'm debating on pendant right now... I'm not sure if i am going open top or a canopy yet so, if its open i'm gonna do the lumenarc stealth mini otherwise the new coralvue lumen bright looks insane...

How do you know what Gran Turismo plays like? The demo isn't even slated till after X-mas. If Gran Turismo carries on from GT4 established previous games, it probably will have the most confusing/huge home menu of all time.

What part of "plays better" are you talking about? On Forza 2 you can actually tell cars apart, you know you're driving a juiced up SRT-4 and not a EVO. Heck, you can even tell from the way the car drives a Ferrari F430 from a NSX. Previous Gran Turismos it feels like you in the same car, just some are faster then others. Also the crash/bumping on Gran Turismo has always been terrible. Forza 2 pretty much nailed it (though the damage isn't quite enough IMO).

My friend has a drivable demo of Gran Tourismo he downloaded on the PS3, I will have to ask him how he got it since I do not own a PS3 yet. Personally I just wasn't impressed with Forza2 after playing the GT demo. I like my GT4 better than Forza....I feel I can control the cars better. I just wasn't blown away by it thats all. Sorry to knock on your game, but once you try the PS3 GT demo you will see what I mean.

Yea, definitely lemme know how he got it, should be interesting to try out.

That's the thing with GT vs. Forza, you really aren't suppose to be able to control the level of cars at the level you're driving them. It should be that hard, pure sim. And you're able to grasp the characteristics in GT faster because you're driving the same car over and over again. There aren't real differences between different make/model like there is in Forza...

The demo has been available for as long as I have known and the graphics are out of this world. Definetly a great game.
