Why would you buya Zune? The iPod is totally better for the same price. The iPod will play movies, is smaller, works with the best online store, doesn't have M$ crazy DRM. The only thing the Zune has is the silly wireless thing that is pretty much pointless.
Yay, I can MAYBE beam a song to another zune device so they can play it 3 times. I say maybe, because not all songs can be sent, which MS doesn't tell you. Plus, you will need to find someone with a zune first. Good luck with that. God luck finding a positive review of the Zune that isn't a publication funded by MS.
If you just can't touch an apple product, which is dumb, get a Zen.

Okay, lets look.
Same: Storage Space, Price, Both play music (hopefully) and video, also can view pictures.
Zune only: Wi/Fi (not that big of a pro, I agree), FM radio, Bigger Screen, Zune Software (Not as good as iTunes, but isn't as finicky as other people have said), No Clickwheel (I still haven't gotten the hang of it), subscription service (all I can eat), Customizable background, more durable screen material, not a fingerprint magnet.
Ipod only: iTunes (big plus), lighter, tried-and-true, Clickwheel (touch sensitive can be nice sometimes), Stlightly longer battery life (I think?), can act as a portable hard-drive, Apple ingenuity and Software support, more video formats.
I'm sure I missed some stuff (on the iPod), but the Zune has a couple more pros that the Wi/Fi.
Again, please dissuade (is that a word?) me. If Jx can convince me that Creative is superior
, I will seriously consider one.

I absolutely love my iPod. Seems like everyone makes products and integrates products for the iPod. I have a Yamaha receiver with the iPod dock it’s great. It's going to be hard for anyone to take Apple's market share.
Don't forget the Zune also has an FM tuner. People still listen to FM?

Alright, I don't know what size you're looking for, but if you want to put full movies and a ton of songs (I have almost 10k) then you will want a 60 GB version. So let's see

Let's try to pick out what an iPod and Zune don't have. (I don't know much about the Zune mind you)

Sleep and wake timers - iPod has I think

Functions as an external hard drive - not sure if ipod can do this (and I love this)

My suggestion is to try them both. I'm sure you've probably experienced an ipod, try to experience a creative. Whichever you're more comfortable with you should go with. BTW, I don't have a problem with the iPod, but I'm just throwing out a more affordable and, IMO, equally impressive mp3/video player.
Now my best suggestion is to just get a Palm Treo 700. Now you can carry music, video, and your phone all in one peripheral!

I don't need 60GB, and $250 is kind of pushing it, so anything above that I am not even going to try to shoot for.

I am always so confused as to why someone would subscribe to music. Seems crazy to me. Your going to pay $120 a year to listen to music. In 5 years, you just dropped $600. That is more then I would spend buying all the albums I like in 5 years and I get to keep them forever. With the subscription, I stop paying and poof, the're all gone. So I would then have to purchase all the music that I wanted to keep again! Plus, you only get music from the Zune store this way. They currently have very little, even less than iTunes, so I still need to buy all the good music put out by actual record lables that care about the artists from somewhere else.
A note on the Zune/iPod screen. The ipods is smaller, but the same resolution. Your eyes won't know the difference if you just hold the iPod a little closer to your face. About 3".

The Zune store also does it the Apple way. You can buy a song or album, download it and keep it forever.
On all of them, I could just buy my albums from a real store and keep them forever. I was just interested in the fact that if you buy a Zune, you get a redemption code for a couple of weeks of the subscription service, to try it out. Then, if I didn't like it, I could just revert back to the way I was previously buying music, CD's and downloads from iTunes.
What I'm trying to say is, I like the fact that the Zune offers all 3 ways to get the music you want. The Pass would be the best way to go if I was going to download hundreds of albums, which would cost a fortune to do the other ways. The download and buying CDs would be the other alternative to the Pass, if I feel that I'm not getting enough out of it.
And Qwiv, you are right. It does seem a little retarded that once you stop paying, you lose all your music. But you have to think about it like this:
I pay for one months subscription, and I download 30,000 songs and don't renew the next month. I just saved hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars, and I get to keep all the musc forever.
Obviously, if everyone did this, there would be a major outcry from the record companies, and all of the subscription services would either get sued or go out of bussinnes. Therefore, they had to impose that small downside to keep the money flowing and everyone happy (to some extent).
I'm sure that if I get one of the 3 players listed above, I will be totally satisfied.

First of all I dont have either but have used ipod. I am not a fan of the wheel . I was looking into getting a zune for my wife for x-mas but am thinking now it will be a creative labs zen micro photo. I know the Zen Vision won the top prize at the last electornics show. Sorry ipod fans they said it was the best product. The built in recorder seems to put it over the top for me.
