OT_ My Dads needs help finding a used Macintosh

I am just happy that seths spelling has improved as much as it has recently! Heck I remember punching some of his earlier posts into my enigma machine and got out coordinates to an artillery strike in stalingrad

Seth, I am in the pro video sales business. If you all can afford it, just have your dad buy the best IMac he can afford and make sure it has at least 2 gigs of ram. You can use Final cut with it. He might have to get an extra hard drive Or he can simply make his clients pay for a hard drive for their project. Buy the refurbish IMac (24" with two gigs ram). The IMac will be just fine unless you have to do a lot of fancy graphics then you will need more ram and perhaps a G5. I know people who are editing for broadcast TV on IMacs using Final Cut. Jeff

i have a powerbook g4 that wont get past the startup screen. I am thinking it is a hard drive problem since i dropped it. If you want to see how much it will cost to fix it, its all yours.

it's rare that you *need* a mac for anything. the same goes the other way around. File types are application specific and generally not platform specific. Also, pagemaker isn't all that "beefy" of an app. I would find someone who has a copy to sell and just load it on any PC. Last I used it, I was running a 400mhz AMD box with 256mb of RAM. I may still have my licensed version should he need it...

good luck, it sucks being out of work. I know...
