Our 75g is going well....

120 lbs live rock/branch. Only critter that I have seen so far is a starfish. Maybe a brittle? He's white now and very small. I also seem to have a feather duster, I think.

Next on the list is a nice set of lights. A Aqualight Pro HQI would be great, but they are pricy.

Any and all comments are welcome.

Nice tank!

I have one of those Coralife Aqualight Pro HQI fixtures over my 75g and love it. Nice fixture, just a smidge difficult to work under. Might want to consider the ceiling mount.

Thanks for the comments. We ( my spousal unit and I) really like it. It's our first tank of any kind. I've wanted one for years and she mentioned last month that she wanted one. It started out as a FO, now it's a FOWLR and I think she wants a reef tank. I think we need to go much bigger for a reef setup, but if we do this one up nice, it should be fine.

She really wants clams and some coral of some kind. The really colorful stuff. I agree, but we need to let the tank "break in" before that stuff can happen. We don't even have a CUC yet.

We have way too much branch in the tank, IMO.

With all that LR/branch, do I need to run both my filters(400gph each)? The one is a skilter, which will be nice for the QT when I find a cheap tank. I want to replace it with a Remora. The skilter puts way too many tiny bubbles in the tank.

Should I ditch the AQ 70 and get 2 35's for circulation? We're still learning here.

IMO I would build the rock up higher and have more caves and spots for fish to hide in. Also that will help out for water flow threw out the tank and not have any dead spots inside of the rock work. I would use 2 maxi-jet 1200s in that tank for water flow. The rock is a great start for filtration, as for the skilter I would mess with it until you dont have tiny bubbles in your tank, you don't want those. For filtration I would use a refugium, if you don't know what that is I will go into more detail. Any and all questions you have other members here and I will be more then happy to answer. Glad you took the dive into SW!
